Stephen and Kathryn, siblings, began training together in 1984 with Bonnie Allard, through Allard Academy of Dance. After extensive professional careers in dance, the siblings decided to elevate and share the training they received, and in 2014, Great Lakes Dance Centre was born. The overall goal of GLDC is to train students in proper dance technique. Technique is developed by students taking weekly classes with repetition of steps and combinations. Students are trained to execute movements on the right and the left side of the body, so that both sides are developed evenly. From this repetition of movement, students will build stamina, and muscle memory. As the students move through the various levels of classes, they will continually build technique, to the most advanced level of execution. Students will be pushed to reach their maximum potential in a nurturing classroom setting. GLDC faculty will answer any questions during class, and will stay after class to work on various technical issues. Students will learn vocabulary terms, and definitions which will round out their learning experience. GLDC additionally strives for the dancer to find their inner artist.
